Nahhh, you're too sweet and thoughtful to ever upset anyone! And that's not a bad idea. Personally I just try to headcanon that in anime/mangaverses those weights are perfectly healthy~ And weight works! But sadly I don't know of any other tags, so I can't help. Sorry about that!!!
Awawawa ~//////~ thank you for thinking so!!
That’s a great headcanon!! They’re 2-dimensional, I’m not worried about their health haha! I’m just worried about it influencing real people who may already be struggling with body image issues and who may be receiving body-negative messages from elsewhere. I don’t want it make it worse!
Thanks for the help you’ve given me so far! If anyone has particular tags they want me to tag, whether #weight related or something else, even if it’s something you think is dumb, please let me know!!
You're very welcome! Yeah, Mai's seems to be the only issue so far, thankfully, as far as that is concerned. And no worries, I actually think you made the right choice since I think it's best to just put everything and properly tag it~
Aww, thank you!! I was worried I was going to upset someone djsfskfddfj
I can check any future weights on the BMI chart and mark the underweight ones like that, while acknowledging that the BMI chart is a USA thing and that it’s not the be-all, end-all of health or someone’s healthy weight, as there’s variation between people.
The people I follow tag #weight but that’s it, so that’s what I did. Are there more tags I need to add than that?
Honestly, y’all, this book is full of triggering material. I just talked about #weight this one time because it was the concern in front of me but there’s all sorts of triggering things, especially since it deals a lot with the season 0/manga content, like all the #violence in the Death T, Gozaburo’s #suicide, some stuff coming up with Marik’s end of the story, etc and if I start cutting things out because they’re triggering, I’m going to be posting half-blank pages with side references, and that’s not exactly how the translation business works. I can’t handle that kind of disorganization anyway.
I’m more than happy to tag things if you tell me what you want tagged; I’ll be happy to put them in the description so they remain when people reblog my posts (as long as they keep my commentary). We can work out coded tags as well. Let me know. But I’m not comfortable with omitting anything from the pages (trust me, some of these were a little triggering for me to translate).
If there's one thing I'm not crazy about with anime and manga, it's the ridiculous weights they give everyone. But as for the weights, maybe what you could do is leave them out of the pages, and then at the end make a master post listing the weights for all the characters? That way you can still put them but it'll only be on one post, and you can warn people and tag it properly so they can Tumblr Savior it, but so the information is still out there. :D
Thanks so much for your message!! This was something I thought about doing, but I’ve spoken with a few people and it seems like the best thing to do is to post everything and put a disclaimer on them to warn people. I’ve already done/posted over half the character profiles as is and Mai’s was the only one I noticed that was severely problematic (but I could be wrong). I also have a whole list of reasons why I don’t want to split information on the pages that I’m too tired to get into right now. I put a disclaimer and put “#weight” in Mai’s description so it becomes like a permanent tag for Saviour when people reblog, as long as they don’t remove my commentary (though I am happy to add more ‘permanent tags’ ad hoc; let me know). I’ve heard so many different things tonight and this seems to be a good medium as there’s no way I can do everything I’ve been suggested. Thanks again for your consideration!! Let me know if you want something else tagged!
//Translator’s note: I’m not a medical professional, but her #weight seems very unrealistic for her height and shape, and falls as underweight on the BMI chart used in the USA. Please don’t compare yourself to her.
I feel conflicted about even putting the weights on these character profiles.I’m not going to omit or change them but please take them with a grain of salt. I’m on Mai’s page and she’s 7 inches taller than me, but weighs about 15 pounds less than me even though I can see my ribs. These weights don’t seem realistic at all and I don’t want to contribute to anyone’s body image concerns. I’m not sure what the best way to handle this is so I don’t trigger anyone. Input is appreciated.
Every character has their weight on their profile so I don’t know what to do or tag? If you want to unfollow or Saviour this URL, I won’t mind.
